Match report Friends United first time won a 1st round cup game in 3 season as they defeated a good United CC side in one sided contest at Ealing Central Sports Ground.

MPCL debutant team United CC won the toss on hot and sunny day and decided to bat first on dry wicket. Friends United bowlers started well by removing their opener in 4th over who was caught by Nirmal Ramgi and bowler was Ramesh Magan but there on it was struggle to get wickets early on. Friends United did manage to keep run rate down as United CC’s bowlers couldn’t score freely. In 9th over United CC other opener Prem Patwal was superbly run out by Ramesh Magan from a direct throw from boundary. Sunny who has been in terrific form for United CC was on the crease next and he tried to impose himself on the bowlers by coming out of the crease and hitting some lovely shots but Friends United’s fielding was up to the mark. Friends United captain Yogesh Nagpal decided to bring on Jalpesh Vijay to try and get Sunny out and he was successful in his first over and Sunny was given LBW and then on Jalpesh Vijay took centre stage as he took 6 wickets to take out United CC’s middle order. From other end captain Yogesh Nagpal bowled superbly to take 2/17 in 9 overs. Jalpesh Vijay finishes with figure of 6/26 in 8.3 overs. United CC were bowled out for 97 in 37.3 overs.

In reply Friends United did make good start but lost opener Piyush Vanraj to a superb catch in slip by Sunny. But other opener Nirmal Ramgi (39 runs) and Ramesh Magan (53 runs from 45 balls) sealed the chase in 18.1 overs. Friends United completed a dominant 9 wicket victory to move to second round of knockout competition where they will face Division 1 leader Sri Lankan Cavaliers.
