Friends United Cricket Club Won by 12 runs

Match report After Shivam and Friends United both received bye in MPCL Cup 1st Round. This friendly match was played on North Acton Ground on one of the hottest day of the year.

Friends United won the toss (Piyush's first toss win as captain) and decided to bat first. Opening combination of Nirmal and Piyush got the score going at good run rate before Nirmal missed an inswinger from Sujit. Ramesh and Piyush kept the score going at healthy rate. Shivam's captain Kishore got rid Piyush with a good catch by Dilesh. Hilpesh who looked in good nick during his stay at the crease, along with Vivek (who is looking in excellent touch with the bat this season) and then Kiran took the score to 175 for 8 after 40 overs. Ramji hit a tremndous six over mid-wicket and Samir took his first wicket for Shivam.

In reply Shivam had uneasy start with Ramji bowling at full tilt but with help of extras they kept ticking over. First Ramji then Ramesh, Dinesh and Hilpesh took early wickets but Dilesh in partnership with Sujit kept on scoring at healthy rate. A bouncer from Nikhil made Sujit retire hurt but Dilesh kept on going and at fall of next wicket Sujit came back after receiving treatment.

Ramesh then with his off-spin took 3 important wickets to gave some hope to Friends United but by 31 over they were 162 for 7 and needed only 14 runs to win the match with 9 overs in hand. Captain Piyush bowled the next over and with some luck got their last recognised batsman to edge on leg side to Keeper with Jigar Vassantlal taking a sharp catch. then next 3 balls, Piyush took 2 wickets to wrap the match and won the game. Friends United finally had their first victory against Shivam.
