Friends United Cricket Club Won by 133 Runs

Match report After two weeks of match cancellation due to water logged pitch Friends United finally got their MPCL Division 3 campaign under way. Early Division 3 leader Kondor were the visitor to North Acton Playing Fields.

On a cloudy and chilly day Kondor called correctly and won the toss. They decided to field first. Friends United's Nirmal Ramgi and Captain for the day Piyush Vanraj opened the batting for home team. After early jitters and a early life for Piyush at point, both openers steadied the inning. After 7 overs score was 23 for 0 when Kondor's new bowler Jay decided to try and bounce our Nirmal. He survived and in the next two deliveries he tried same bowling tactic which were met by two powerful pulls by Piyush to make Kondor fielding quiet. Soon after Nirmal and Piyush bought up first 50 partnership. Then Nirmal lost his wicket in some controversial circumstance as bowl seem to hit ground before it carried to bowler for caught and bowl.

Piyush and Ramesh kept the runs ticking over before Ramesh was brilliantly caught and that made spinner Vinesh to take another wicket in next over with ripper of a ball to account for the next batsman. Piyush completed his first 50 of the season and then lost his wicket soon after. But Vivek Rameshchandra along with first Ramji and then Nikhil hit some important boundaries including 2 brilliant straight bat 6s to get the score to respectable 177 all out.

After the break Ramji Bagoane started brilliantly and took 3 wickets in first over without a run on board. Second of this was a brilliant catch in slip by Hilpesh Pravincumar. Then on it was all one way traffic as Ramji completed his 5 wickets haul and completed with 7 wickets for 11 runs. Nikhil Mulgi took another 3 wickets to fall.

Friends United completed a massive win by 133 runs and register first win of 2012 season. Next week is a friendly match at Home Ground as we have bye in first round of the cup competition.
