Friends United Cricket Club Lost by 81 runs

Match report Friends United’s battings cost them dear today in MPCL Cup 1st round match against United Sports at Vale Farm ground.

On another cloudy and windy day Friends United loss the toss and United Sports choose to bat first. Friends United started very well as Ramji bowled a hostile spell and took wicket in his first over by bowling through dangerous Sumit. From other end Kiran started well and took 2 quick wickets to keep United Sports scoring in check.

United Sports number 5 batsman Krunal played a brilliant knock as with help of small partnership and bulk of strike he started building up a good total. Friends United kept chipping away on wickets front but Krunal stood still on other end and hit three brilliant sixes.

Krunal was second last wicket to fell but he scored a stroke filled 75 and United Sports well bowled out for 161 in 33 overs. Ramji and Kiran both took 2 wickets each as well as Kushal.

Friends United in reply started well with new opening partnership of Hilpesh and Pocket Dynamo (Nirmal Ramgi) started scoring runs at good pace. They have scored 31 when Hilpesh has rush of blood and tried to hit another 4 and got bowled. Then on it was all downhill Sejil lost his wicket to slow bowler Rishi trying to hit sweep but getting a top edge.

Jigar got a straighter bowl and got LBW to Rishi as well. Kushal and Nirmal tried to build the inning but Kushal got too much bogged down and couldn’t rotate the strike on regular interval and then lost his wicket trying to hit. Captain Piyush didn’t fare well as he tried to play himself in and lost his wicket top edging at point.

Friends United got bowled out on 80 in 27.3 overs and loss the game which was there in the bag at halfway through. No practice for 3 weeks and some unsensible batting and failure to occupy the crease cost them dearly. They should have won this match on a canter but instead they should learn from this and improve their showing in next match.
