Match report It was a fine day at Hayes CC home cricket ground, Friends United CC was in high spirit after their smashing victory from the last match against Old Merchant Taylor CC. But at the same time the older members of the group were a bit scared about Hayes CC as they were already playing in the 2nd division.

After wining the toss, Hayes CC decided to bat first. Good call by them as it was ideal opportunity to get a great score in the cloudy to-be weather in the afternoon. The fast bowlers Nikhil, Vivek and Sejal bowled beautifully but the score by the Hayes CC climbed due to the poor fielding and some exciting and brave shots by their top three batsmen. Fans of the Friends United were disappointed but they were soon cheering their team as first Hilpesh and then captain Piyush took some quick wickets to stem the flow of the runs and add to that run out by Anil was great and very entertaining to watch. Hayes CC managed to make a very respectable 239 runs in 40 overs.

Where the Friends United CC lacked in fielding had to be made up in their batting. Captain Piyush opened with Hilpesh to climb the huge mountain, which was tough but not impossible. Piyush was under pressure and he showed this as he got bowled out in the second over. The rest of the batting was good but they all were there to hit and get out. I think their aim was to make quick runs or get out. The partnership between Hilpesh and Jitesh started to turn the match in favour of Friends United but wicket of Hilpesh gave initiative once again to Hayes CC. Hilpesh was doing brilliantly throughout the whole innings and with help from Anil and Nikhil managed to score a century which included a huge six over long off. The chase was very close and 3 runs needed from 3 balls when Nikhil hit a gorgeous straight drive to seal the victory. On the last few overs the crowd was really excited and standing up as the game became really interesting.

Friends United CC won the game by three wickets and proved that where they failed in fielding they managed to show it in their batting. Hilpesh was man of the match as he managed to score 114 runs not out and standing strong in through the entire game of 40 overs.

The team was excited and ran in the pitch to congratulate the Man of The Match Hilpesh and also Nikhil was giving him support when wickets were falling at other end. Hayes CC were bit disappointed as they played a good game of cricket and it was a close call.

Absolutely fun match as the weather which did look like a bit cloudy managed to stay clear and also some of the great shots by the Friends United CC.
