Friends United wins against South Harrow
01 Jul 2012
Friends United captain Yogesh won his first toss of the season and decided to Bat first, it turned out to be an excellent choice.
It was back to old combination of Hilpesh and Piyush opening the inning and they started well. Piyush lost his off stump bowled by Jigar for 5 runs when score was on 21. It became 21/2 as next batsman Ramesh was given out lbw for 0. That brought Nirmal on the crease and along with Hilpesh they started scoring at faster rate. Nirmal at one stage outscoring Hilpesh. After a minor delay of because of rain, Hilpesh brought up his first 50 of the season. Nirmal was not far behind but in trying score quick runs he lost his middle stump, and he was out for 47. The partnership between Hilpesh and Nirmal was 103 runs. Hilpesh kept on going at other end and was well supported by Vivek (19 runs) & Kiran (19 runs). Hilpesh was out for a 89 (when hundred was there for taking) trying to score some quick runs. Friends United eventually finished on 224/9 in 40 overs.
After the break Friends United bowlers came all guns blazing and due to pressure of chasing big target and some excellent bowling South Harrow lost their way in batting. Opening bowlers Kiran & Jitesh removed both of their big hitting openers for single digit score and was well supported by excellent bowling of Vivek R. Only Yuveraj (49 runs) and Jigar Parekh of South Harrow offered any resistance and were eventually bowled out for 134 in 30 overs.
Friends United won the game by 90 runs and took 20 points in process.
