Rain ruins the match

17 Jul 2011

Rain and bad weather once again played spoil sport to ruin what was turning in to a interesting match on a damp pitch.

Friends United lost the toss and were batting first.  After loosing opener Sejil in 3rd over, Jonil and Piyush started scoring runs at very good rate.  After loss of Jonil and Hilpesh in quick succession (with Hilpesh hitting 2 beautiful 4s), captain Yogesh and Piyush took the score to 81/3 when in 20th over heavens opened up and match had to be called of that stage as pitch become water logged.  Piyush was on 46 not out (his best score of the season so far).

It was an opportunity lost for the Friends United to record a win which could have put them right into the promotion chasing pack of Expatriates II, South Harrow and Diu Community of Southall.

Friends United next match is against Diu Community of Southall.
