Match report Friends United 1st XI came into this game against Lankian CC with a great degree of confidence after a dominating game last week in similar conditions.

Friends United made a brisk start however Jayesh who broke into the 1st XI on the back of good scores were unable to continue the momentum and lost his wicket for 6 runs. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Friends United as it bought star batsmen Apoorva to the crease. Apoorva never looked in any real trouble and continued to hit boundaries at will all around the ground along with Jigar who found his range with an impressive cameo of 22 at nearly run a ball. Even with Jigar’s wicket, Apoorva continued his positive attacking intent through the middle overs and support from lower down the order from Krupesh and Nirmal meant Friends United posted an imposing total of 235/10 in 37.2 overs. Apoorva ended with a score of 135 from 92 balls that included staggering 10 sixes.

Lankian started the chase in an assured manner with both openers striking at 100 but opening bowler Pritesh found excellent line and length to account for the top 4 wickets with some clever bowling. With the rising required run rate, Lankian batsmen needed to find boundaries regularly and for a brief moment the partnership with Rishan and Chaminda threatened to take the game away from Friends United however a beautiful delivery from Nitin to remove Chaminda ended any chances of a comeback and the innings soon came to an early end. Nitin was well supported by Dixit who took 2 important wickets in the middle overs and Hemal with 1 wicket to this name. Lankain finished on a score of 116/10 in 22.4 overs.
