Match report Friends United CC vs Indiana CC, MIDDLESEX PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE – CUP 2nd ROUND, at Birbeck Avenue, Greenford on 15th June 2014.

Scores: Indiana 263 all out (45 overs) beat Friends United CC 160 all out by 103 runs

Division 1 top team Indiana were visitors to Division 2 team Friends United at Birbeck Avenue in this Cup round. Indiana won the toss and decided to bat first. They started very well with openers scoring 30 runs in 5 overs but then Friends United bowlers started to pull things back first by run out from Imran and then Nilesh Lacmane bowling tight spell to dry up the runs. Wickets started coming as well as Indiana batsmen trying to score some quick runs. Indiana captain Chetan Depala had 2 lifeline and he made them count he hit superb 61 runs from 68 balls. At one stage Friends United reduced Indiana to 101/5 in 21 overs but then Hardik Savani came in and counter attacked at he his 88 runs from 58 balls as Friends United fielding standard slipped in later part of the inning and Indiana scored 263.

In reply Friends United openers begin well and scored at steady pace but then Nirmal Ramgi lost his stump trying to hit Indiana bowler Himanshu out of the park. Sudhir Vinodkumar and captain Yogesh Nagpal had a good 45 runs partnership to keep the score moving but they both lost their wicket in quick succession to put Friends United chase in trouble and it was soon 80/4 as Jigar lost his wicket too. Then Dilesh Narotam hit some gorgeous boundaries to take the score past 110 at 22 over mark but his wicket along with Piyush Vanraj meant bulk of the batting was gone and some late order runs took score past 150 but some amazing catches by Indiana meant Friends United were all out for 160 in 36 overs.

Its back to concentrating on league now for Friends United as they are out of the knock out competition.
